Have a Zombie Halloween

Zombies have been a staple for Halloween for some time. There have been hit movies that have hit cult status that feature zombies like Sean of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead. If you have a fascination with the idea of brain eating mindless creatures that roam the night, you can have a lot of fun with a zombie Halloween party or theme. Unlike vampires, most that write about zombies in fiction keep to the same basic premise, which means putting together something like this should not only be pretty easy, but will ring true to your guests, family, and friends.

For a zombie Halloween, you have to have zombies. You and your family can dress up as zombies. Some small children may be scared about the idea, but you can either do something else or not fill them in on the entire idea of what zombies are and what they do. Most kids are okay with it though, as they understand it is not something that is real and is all about having fun. You can ask guests to dress up like you for your zombie Halloween party for more fun for everyone.

Your zombie Halloween theme may just be you dressing up like one to answer the door for trick or treat. If you want to have some fun with it, you can ask the older children if they have any brains that you can eat. Younger children may get scared, so leave that out with the toddlers and pre-schoolers. You can also see if you can find some themed candy items for your zombie Halloween theme. You can make small gift bags or give out simple treats like gummy worms or brains, if you can find them. Eyeballs can work too.

If you are having an all out zombie Halloween party, you can find many great ideas for food and fun. For the food, look around for food that you can make to look like a brain. You can take half of a watermelon, or a whole small one, and carve it to look like a brain. You can use red syrup of some type of red Jell-o to look like blood or brain matter. This comes out really great and you can find instructions for that or other brain food ideas for your zombie Halloween food and snacks ideas.

If your zombie Halloween consists of you going out for trick or treat as a zombie, remember that they have certain mannerisms. This will help your costume come alive. Most are portrayed as walking very slowly, stumbling along with arms outstretched in search of food. They are not smart and the body is animated by something other than the personality of the person. A stumbling and bumbling zombie that makes moans and groans is going to be a hit on any Halloween. Don't forget the torn clothing, blank stare, and of course, bruised and darkened skin. You can't look great when you are dead, after all.
