Moving on to concrete, this could be chosen for a kitchen countertop as well. one of its exciting attributes is that it’s not limited in terms of thickness, it could be as thick as one wants. Again, it’s luxurious because of its tactile surface and also heat resistant .However; it needs a lot of maintenance.

Engineered stone is another type of material one could opt for a kitchen countertop. It’s extremely hard and porous too but it doesn’t have the natural look one would want for a kitchen.

Ceramic tiles are durable, easy to clean and can take hot pans. Its also inexpensive and there are a variety of colors one could use. It can however chip and crack easily and if one wants one which is custom designed, it’s quite expensive.

Soap stones have a soft feel hence a good choice as kitchen countertop. They are quite deep when it comes to color and actually stain resistant, though they crack and require high maintenance.

If one wants a contemporary look for a kitchen, one could go for stainless counters. They are heat resistant, long lasting and easy to maintain however they are noisy and have a high capability of having dents.
