Indoor Hot Tub

Many people that own a hot tub have it outside. This is for a variety of reasons, and one is usually expense. If you want to have an indoor hot tub, you are probably going to spend more to have it installed. There are definitely benefits to having your hot tub in the house or in some other type of structure, but it depends on your space, your budget, and even where you live. Indoors means privacy, but it also means that you have to give up a good amount of space to have it inside. It is easier to have a hot tub inside than a pool, but you do have to make some of the same sacrifices to have it this way.

You must have room for your indoor hot tub. This often takes up more space than one might realize. You have to fit the tub into the room, but you also have to have room around the tub and you may also want to have some storage there for towels and other needs to keep your tub clean and running. Some like to have a small bar or entertaining area near an indoor tub, so think hard about how much space you really have to have to get what you want from your hot tub should you put it inside.

Secondly, you have to think about how heavy the tub is going to be. If you want to have your indoor hot tub on the second or third floor, you need to have someone come in to let you know if your home is structurally sound and able to take on the additional weight. Some homes are in good shape but putting a hot tub on any floor but the first is a bad idea. You also have to have a water supply near your tub or you are going to have to find a way to get a water supply there, which can be terribly expensive.

Any area in the home where you want to put in an indoor hot tub has to be waterproofed, just as you would do with a bathroom. This may mean putting in new flooring and new walls, at least waist high. Water damage from an indoor tub can be substantial if you put it anywhere in your home without considering where the water may go when you get in and out and if someone gets a bit rowdy in there and splashes. If you have kids, this is a must. You don't want your floor boards rotting out under your tub.

Having an indoor hot tub can be a lot of fun as long as you can handle the above improvements to your home. A hot tub can have great therapeutic effects on your whole family. Just make sure you keep it clean, as bacteria and thrive in hot water conditions. Also think of your hot tub the same way that you do a pool. You have to make sure no children are in it unattended (or with the water too hot), and that it is covered at all times when not in use.
